If you break down

Call us on 0800 929 111 from your mobile or from the nearest phone. If you're in Europe call +44 (0)1484 435806.

Have the following information ready:

  • Your policy number and the phone number you're calling from
  • Exact details of where you are
  • If you have personal cover and are not in your nominated vehicle you'll need the make, model and registration number of the vehicle you're driving or travelling in

Stay safe if you break down on a UK motorway

  • Pull onto the hard shoulder as far to the left as you can and switch on your hazard warning lights
  • Use one of the emergency phones located along the hard shoulder. This will help us locate you
  • If you can't get to the hard shoulder only leave your vehicle if everyone can safely get clear of the carriageway. Whilst you are in the vehicle, keep your seatbelt on
  • Don't try and place any warning device on the carriageway
  • Leave all pets in the vehicle
  • Exit the vehicle as safely as possible and stand to the rear of the vehicle behind a barrier or up an embankment if there is one

When our breakdown professional arrives

  • They'll do everything they can to get you on your way but please remember they're only authorised to provide the service you've paid for and agreed with us
  • They'll ask you to pay for any parts and we're not responsible for costs you arrange without authorisation from us

When they've dealt with your breakdown they may ask you to sign an advice note. They’ll return this to us so we can monitor our service standards.
